George S. Coakley


George is an accomplished civil trial lawyer and appellate advocate. His civil litigation experience is formidable and broad in scope. His experience includes the representation of lawyers, architects, engineers, physicians, real estate and insurance brokers and businesses. In addition to trying cases, George has considerable appellate experience including advocating for clients in the Ohio Supreme Court, the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court.

George is a “lawyer’s lawyer”; a respected problem solver and strategist and a long time mentor top young lawyers in the Cleveland legal community. Given his wide ranging legal experience and acumen, George is often asked to serve as a mediator, arbitrator and uneutral in civil disputes. He has handled pro bono cases through the Legal Aid Society of Cleveland since becoming a lawyer and remains a staunch advocate of Legal Aid. George has also given back to the community by serving on various charitable and professional boards including the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association.

George is a frequent speaker at legal seminars on a wide range of topics especially risk management for lawyers, architects and engineers. 

George has consistently maintained an AV rating with Martindale Hubbell and has been honored by the various rating agencies over the years including selection as “Lawyer of the Year” in the defense of lawyers and law firms on several occasions.
