George S. Coakley


George is an accomplished civil trial lawyer and appellate advocate. His civil litigation experience is formidable and board in scope. His experience includes the representation of lawyers, architects, engineers, physicians, real estate and insurance brokers and businesses. In addition to trying cases, George has considerable appellate experience including advocating for client in the Supreme Court, the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court.

George has a reputation as a “lawyer’s lawyer”; strategist and mentor to young lawyers in the Cleveland Community. Given his reputation, George is often asked to serve as a mediator, arbitrator unneutral in civil disputes. He has handled pro bono cases through the Legal Aid Society of Cleveland since becoming a lawyer and remains a strong advocate of Legal Aid. George has also given back to the community by serving on various charitable and professional boards including the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association.

George is a frequent speaker at legal seminars on a wide range of topics especially risk management and ethics issues for lawyers.

George has consistently maintained an AV rating with Martindale Hubbell and has been honored an Ohio Superlawyer by the various rating agencies over the years including selection as “lawyer of the year” in the defense of lawyers and law firms on several occasions.
